Hello, my name is Michael Grayer and I am the director of Floating Point Statistics Ltd.
I have 14 years experience as a statistician: predominantly focusing on clinical trials, but also with experience of quantitative analysis in the social sciences.
I founded Floating Point Statistics in 2015 to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based statistical analyses: meticulously planned, carefully executed, and intelligently reported.
Why the name Floating Point Statistics?
When I started the company, and began searching for premises to work from, one of the offices that came up in my search was on the HMS President, which was (at the time) permanently berthed on the Thames near Blackfriars. I immediately became excited by the prospect of being based aboard a boat, and the name Floating Point Statistics was born. Sadly, however, my inquiries were never answered, and I never did work there, though the name and the logo stuck. HMS President has since been moved from its Thames location to Chatham for refurbishment. Whether Floating Point Statistics will ever be based on a boat or near water remains to be seen…

Although Floating Point Statistics specialises in clinical trials, statistical consultancy services can be provided for almost any type of quantitative research. We can advise you on the statistical aspects of planning your study, including sample size calculations, scenario simulations, choosing endpoints and input into writing study protocols and analysis plans. We have expertise in several statistical programming languages (in addition to the industry-standard SAS, we have experience in R and Stata as well) for producing high quality tables, figures and listings. Finally, we can assist on interpreting the results of your analyses and communicating your findings to your stakeholders clearly and explaining their implications in non-technical language.
